The Best Places to Go Tent Camping in Miami, Florida

When most people think of Miami, they think of beaches, nightlife, and endless sunshine. And while those are definitely some of the best things about this beautiful city, there’s so much more to explore. If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle for a day or two (or more!), then you should definitely consider going tent camping. Miami has some incredible camping spots that are perfect for getting back to nature and enjoying the great outdoors. Here are some of our favorites.

Oleta River State Park

One of the most popular places to go camping in Miami is Oleta River State Park. This sprawling state park is located on Biscayne Bay and has more than 1,000 acres of land to explore. There are mangrove forests, beach volleyball courts, picnic areas, and even an outdoor amphitheater where you can catch live shows in the summertime. Plus, there are plenty of trails for hiking and biking. And if you want to cool off, you can go kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding in the crystal-clear waters. Trust us, you won’t be bored here!

Greynolds Park

Greynolds Park is another great option for camping in Miami. This park is huge (it’s actually the second-largest park in Miami-Dade County!) and has tons of different activities to keep you entertained. There are hiking and biking trails, fishing lakes, a golf course, and even an “old growth” forest where you can see some really big trees. The best part? Greynolds Park is also located on Biscayne Bay, so you can enjoy gorgeous waterfront views as well.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park

If you want to camp on an actual beach (rather than just near one), then Cape Florida State Park is the place for you. This beautiful state park is located at the southernmost tip of Key Biscayne and has over a mile of pristine beaches that are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and simply relaxing. There’s also a historic lighthouse that you can tour, as well as plenty of nature trails to explore. Just be sure to bring your mosquito repellent—this spot is known for its mosquitoes!

Camping in Miami is a great way to escape the crowds and enjoy some time in nature. If you’re planning a trip, be sure to check out one (or all!) of these incredible camping spots.
